Brief History of the Household of Faith

Luke 8:15 “The seed that fell in good soil stands for those who hear the message... and they persist until they bear fruit.”

The first Filipino prayer group in Los Angeles was founded on August 10, 1981 at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church and was named, The Sacred Heart of Jesus.  Four courageous and commissioned souls were guided by the Holy Spirit to form the first cell group.  They were Sis. Ennie (Mommy) Molina and sons, Bro. Eric and Bro. Rally, and Sis. Salud.

As the anointing of God’s grace continued to pour into the prayer group, the membership inevitably grew by leaps and bounds.  The tiny classroom assigned by the parish to hold its prayer meetings could no longer accommodate the growing number of attendees and the situation prompted the elders to find a more spacious room in a church facility.

The search for a new place was prayed over in several meetings and true enough that God’s ways in answering special requests are mysterious and fascinating.  The late Fr. Burns of Saint Columban Church confirmed via a telephone call to Bro. Eric Molina that the prayer group could use the church hall.  This happened at the eleventh hour just before the “vacate notice” for the old room expired.

In a world vibrating with spiritual renewal, the growing community did not go on without experiencing faith testing trials and challenges.  It henceforth received more blessings and miracles as well.  Members and leaders with talents and gifts began to develop their own members and branched out from one prayer group to another.  A milestone was achieved when the prayer group became a ministry on June 21, 1989.  Thus, the Household of Faith Catholic Charismatic Ministry was born.

The small cell group which started in that tiny classroom of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, almost 43 years ago, undoubtedly became the benevolent benefactor of renewed thousand souls.  Today, it could honestly and truthfully claim as the real “household of faith” with a mission beyond reproach.  This is all because we are part of God’s plan for the salvation of mankind and the reign of Christendom.
